"Buying brand-name instead of generic. From groceries to clothing to prescription drugs, you could save money by choosing the off-brand over the fancy label. And in many cases, you won't sacrifice much in quality. Clever advertising and fancy packaging don't make brand-name products better than lesser-known brands."
when i surfed on sites, i jumped to this page about article," 25 ways to waste your money", a financial advise of cutting some worthless budgets. one of their advise is to buy an off-brand instead of fancy label, i pasted it above. Well i know wholeheartedly that it is true, we girls can find any cheaper bags, tops, skirts etc etc. in fact, we born with that skill. I can shop, and I shopped in any thrifted store, or any market place without labels on it, and i know they have their own quality. Believe me i know quality and they have it. Even, sometimes you can find something that even high-end brand doesnt have, it calls vintage.
Then again, I KNOW (there, capslock) that fancy label sometimes is just a label with a clever advertising, well-setted store, and nice lighting. You can compare the quality between high-priced and low-priced things. it such an subjective subject.
But as much as I love buying an off-brand because of they are so low in price, i always find my self not use that things i bought. Not because they don't have fancy tag or something. It because i appreciate how much money i spend. Imagine this: if you bought a nice cheap dress, and a nice expensive dress, which one will you take care the most? which one will you wear with such confident the most?
That happened to me. I appreciate my expensive one the most. because it took me a lot to have that. this kind of situation makes me not appreciate my cheap one enough, and it become useless. Like if one stitched is not right on my fancy dress, I do all the force on earth to make it just right. and with this way of thinking, i came up to an idea, whats the use of buying cheaper-priced thing if it only just packed my wardrobe? so in my case, it better to save my money to spend it on something worth it. it so much better to have one shoes i love most, than having five that i don't really appreciate and end up useless.
Please don't get the wrong idea, the thing is, don't buy if its purely because of the price. think twice. they might be great. But, just so you know, some price could be worth it. :)
